Think Before Getting A Tattoo

There are a lot of things to think about when getting a tattoo. Think original or different. The tattoo you choose will be a reflection of you, so, be creative with your design. Consider the reason you are getting the tattoo. Is it to express your feelings, your life, your passion, something you enjoy or something that just has a very deep meaning to you? Maybe you want to honor someone else. Then think about the things they enjoyed and what had meaning to them.

Then you have to consider your life’s future with your tattoo. If you have the name of your “true love” tattooed on your arm, what happens if he/she dumps you or you dump them. What do you do with that tattoo when you do really do find the person you want to spend the rest of your life with? Also, if you are angry with the world and think they have dumped all over you and you have “F___ You” tattooed on your forehead, what happens when you get your head screwed on right and wish you hadn’t been so stupid. Also when you get tired of having the crap beat out of you by every redneck that sees your “statement” to the world.

Another thing to consider is how will your tattoo and it’s placement affect your future employment potential? Will your future boss be prejudiced about tattoos? Some people are very narrow minded when it comes tattoos. Remember, it wasn’t very long ago that the only people that had tattoos were sailors, bikers and hoodlums. Think about where you have your tattoo placed. Will you have to wear long sleeves in the summer to cover up your tattoo just to keep your job?

Think long and hard before you go for cheap or free designs. Most of the free flash is garbage and they’re not unique or personalized at all. Most people who get the “common” tattoos wish they had looked around a lot more and found one that was original. Getting a tattoo is a major decision. Don’t get one on a whim or just because everyone else is getting one. Take your time and think through all the implications that are involved with having a tattoo.
